WHAT
IS THE WEST SEATTLE CRIME PREVENTION COUNCIL?
West Seattle Crime Prevention Council (WSCPC) is a community
group, open to all West Seattle residents,
who work with police officers, city
employees, business owners, civic
organizations, schools, and social
services providers to make West Seattle
neighborhoods safer and more livable.
WSCPC was originally called the West
Seattle Anti-Crime Council. It was
established in 1989 to promote safer
neighborhoods by:
• Providing
a forum for discussing community crime
and safety in monthly public meetings.
• Monitoring and reporting on
criminal justice and public safety
issues affecting community security
and quality-of-life.
• Supporting and assisting groups
and individuals working to make West
Seattle neighborhoods safe and livable
for all.
• Participating in and building
partnerships with Weed & Seed
and other neighborhood groups and
councils.
• Assisting with reporting and
responding to residential nuisances.
• Advocating for effective,
accountable public service by police
and city services and adequate police
funding and resources.
• Promoting Block & Business
Watch groups and community safety
walks.
