The
Seattle Weed and Seed 2006 study was
commissioned by the Weed and Seed
Executive committee. Many people from
all facets of the Weed and Seed community
contributed to this study, including
those that provided information for
the 2002 study.
Probably the most
gratifying aspect of the process was
that everyone, no matter what their
role might be – be it the police,
the residents, the community workers
and city employees, were eager to
make input. Weed and Seed in Seattle
is a real community partnership that
truly affects people. While fear of
the illicit drug community and crime
are real, the commitment and sacrifice
in the neighborhoods have resulted
in very real
change in their community spirit,
which with very insightful leadership
at the
neighborhood level to city hall to
the U.S. Attorney’s Office has
resulted in measurable and with persistence
sustainable change.
