Penny HarvestThank you Orca K-8 Penny Harvest for choosing SNG as your Grant Recipient!

We recently were awarded Orca K-8 School's Penny Harvest grant! Penny Harvest is a service-learning youth philanthropy program where youth between the ages of 4 and 18 convert their natural passion for others into action by collecting pennies and turning them into grants for community organizations. They studied community needs and organizations and chose to donate to us! Thanks Orca K-8!

GOTS - Street Outreach

Our "Get Off The Streets" program (GOTS for short) is the culmination of a project Seattle Neighborhood Group launched in 2004 in the Central Area. In the beginning, a loose collection of service providers and SPD's community police team who came together to do street outreach to people in the area who were homeless, drug and alcohol addicted, and involved in non-violent street crime. In 2006 the GOTS project was funded by City Council, through the leadership of Nick Licata. By 2008, 60 people received services through the GOTS program.

While the focus population remains the same, we have a formal partnership now with POCAAN and SPD, and outreach is geared toward matching program participants with housing and treatment. The goal of the program is to empower participants to make a positive transition from "street life" to having a stable living environment that will support personal recovery efforts, gaining new life skills, and job preparedness.

GOTS is proud of its participants who have graduated, and would like to thank everyone who supports the program!

More about GOTS

In the summer of 2009, the GOTS project was evaluated by a team of researchers from the University of Washington. We are pleased at the thoroughness and outcome of the evaluation. Read a summary of the 2009 GOTS program evaluation. Download the full report on SNG's GOTS program.
